About the Designer.
Kathleen Evangelista is a Filipino Chavacano fashion designer raised in General Santos City. Born into a family of missionaries and evangelists, her nomadic upbringing nurtured a deep fascination with humanity, culture, and language. Her artistic journey began in church—singing, dancing, acting, crafting, and teaching—where creativity was an act of service.
At six, she fashioned her first drape from swaddling cloths (lampin); sixteen years later, she earned a degree in Clothing Technology from the University of the Philippines Diliman, following an internship with Anthony Ramirez.
As a designer, Evangelista merges spirituality, solemnity, and surrealism, weaving biological methods and philosophical motifs into minimal yet intricate silhouettes. She dreams of establishing a creative university and scholarship foundation in the Philippines—an enduring space for artistically gifted but financially underserved Filipino youth.
